Day two…Still kicking!

Today was a unique day. As I imagine they all will be. So I guess I can’t say that. I have a few pictures to share, but I wanted to talk about the experience. The stories. As I’ve said, this isn’t about Greg riding a bike.

I rode most of today alone. By choice. But in the times I met others, I heard a few stories that were so filled with raw emotion. Stories of people who rode in past years that are no longer with us. I can’t tell you how poignant that was, to see someone take out a picture of them with someone else wearing an Empire State Ride jersey and have them say that that person has passed. The money raised isn’t going to an anonymous corporation. It won’t bring back the people lost. But it will help to ensure that their lives will be remembered and that hopefully, some day soon, no more will follow.

And I hope to have a few stories to share from those who donated.

As Laura mentioned this morning, my new lucky socks. The Winged Foot carried me far today.
Today was almost 50 miles on the Empire State Trail. Views like this were my
morning.
I was pleased to be faster than these fellas.

And it was hot as blazes today. 90‘S and super sunny. Garmin estimated that I lost around 2700mL of fluid. That’s more than a two liter bottle of soda. Every chance I had, hydrate, hydrate, and then hydrate more!

So many pictures to share…but for tonight….thank you again. Remember that I ride for you.
