Day 4- Century Day!

Last night was a bit of a powerful post. And being able to share two stories from donors was even more powerful. Over the last two days it’s been a lot about people. Today I’m going to take a small departure and just show some pictures from yesterday and today.

I will say that today was a long day. A “century” is hitting 100 miles on a ride, and that was today. I got really close, but my GPS disagreed, but I know I did it. As I speak there are people doing laps around the block to get to that number.

And people are starting to tire. We had at least one injury that required an ambulance. There is a line of people that the medics are seeing. Now the motivation to proceed needs to come from somewhere besides legs. We were offered an early start window this morning, of 6:30 instead of 7-8. As I write this, people are still arriving at camp. If they left at 6:30, that’s over 14 hours of riding….

Continuing the support from local officials, this morning we left with a full police escort.
I believe this was a lock on the Erie Canal, but I could be mistaken.
No explanation necessary on this! This was taken around halfway today.
One of the “rescue” vans that’s on standby to pick up cyclists either with mechanical, medical, or other reasons they can’t cycle back. These vans have been making a lot of trips today.

Lastly my random ride details. Garmin has told me I’ve surpassed 27,000 pedal strokes. Just today. Details here. And of course the fun relive video here
